Methanol transition: d2m Engineering a reliable solution provider in sustainable maritime innovation
In a significant stride towards maritime sustainability, a major shipowner has entrusted d2m Engineering with the project solution development for the retrofit of a series of vessels with advanced methanol fuel systems.
Bespoke and optimized solutions: d2m Engineering’s methanol fuel integration.
Scheduled for retrofitting at a shipyard in China, the project entails the design and custom engineering solutions elaborated by d2m Engineering, tailored specifically for the selected series of vessels.
The design thoughtfully optimizes space while maximizing methanol fuel storage, ensuring the MeOH fuel system integrates smoothly with the vessel’s existing systems for safe bunkering and consistent fuel supply to the main engine. Transitioning to low-carbon methanol, these vessels aim to significantly reduce their carbon emissions, thereby enhancing their Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) and improving their Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) ratings, contributing to global sustainability efforts.
Jonathan Huet, Engineering Manager at d2m Engineering, shares his perspective, “The synergy of expertise in this project is truly rewarding. Our team’s skills, combined with the insights from the Owner, the Classification Society, and the shipyard, exemplify a collaborative approach to innovation and environmental responsibility. We value our client’s confidence in us and are excited to contribute to this significant venture, meeting high standards of technology, efficiency, and performance.”
